BOOKLIST.

Coming of Age Stories.

As one takes their journey through life, they will eventually find themselves at a defining moment, a time and place where their actions set the tone for the rest of their life. Everyone goes through this, but it can be even more challenging as a Black girl, given all the struggles we bear. It may feel isolating, but you are not alone, and this month, we have cultivated a list of stories by Black women for Black women and girls. We hope that you will see yourself in these stories and remember that you are not alone, and we cannot wait to hear (or even read) your story.

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thriller Stories.

We all love to venture into the realm of imagination, a place where we can experience things, not of this world or any other. As Black girls, it can sometimes feel as though we are not welcome in most spaces, even imaginary ones, and it can be discouraging. This month, we have generated some books in which Black girls are the focus, the heroes, of their stories and others. This month, we celebrate Black girls not just for everything we do but for everything we imagine.

Black Love In All Forms.

Throughout media, love and romance are prominent themes expressed, but unfortunately, Black women and girls are not always shown at the forefront of receiving this love within media. Because of this many Black girls and women don’t see themselves represented as the love interest or as desirable. Our goal with the novels is to make sure we can see and appreciate Black women and girls receiving love in all forms, whether self, romantic, friendship, family, etc. We hope that you will see yourself in these stories and remember that you deserve love and that you are loved.

Holidays - Sweater Weather.

We all love the cold weather, warm fires, and holiday cheer. It’s important that we as Black women and girls see ourselves as part of that narrative and holiday spirit. Our goal with these novels is to just relax while and read. It’s important to see ourselves represented in happy simple stories, with positivity and joy.
