HEALTH
Physical and mental health are essential aspects of our lives. These matters are exponentially vital for Black women and girls. Mental health experts and doctors constantly invalidate black girls. Our pain is not seen in the same light as our counterparts’, which has become detrimental to us and our health. We want to provide a space to discuss these issues and provide essential information for self-advocacy and action steps for Black girls in these uncomfortable positions. In addition, we want to use this space to discuss how mental health disproportionately affects Black women and girls and destigmatize topics of mental health in the Black community. In addition, we hope to put our viewers in direct contact with Black therapists and share information on how to take care of your mental health while existing in this world and navigating intersectional layers of oppression. We are here to uplift and support our Black girls and provide the necessary tools to ease the difficulties we face in these fields.
30 Day Self-Care Activities Calendar
Many of us have calendars to remember appointments, assignment deadlines, and a plethora of other tasks we deem productive. How often do we plan “tasks” where we give our minds and bodies a break? The Health committee for Just-Us knows how hard it is to set aside time for self-care, let alone different activities that spark your interest, so we did it for you. Our 30 Day Self-Care Calendar includes a different activity for each day of the month and can be re-used and re-mixed to fit personal interest. You can omit any activities you dislike, as well as include your own personal favorite(s). We all need time to relax… it’s vital to our health, so join the team for the next thirty days and get your self-care on.
